While overseeing GMC's activities, Sam focuses on creating a network of "developers"- skilled, seasoned professionals serving part time as investment underwriters on various initiatives in the GMC portfolio. Infrastructural needs of the microfinance industry are also an area of concentration. He works with GMC's sister enterprises, the Gray Ghost Microfinance Fund and the Rockdale Foundation, to identify opportunities that will advance the viability of microfinance as an investment option. He plays a key role in bringing together like-minded individuals and entities to advance the development of the industry.
Sam spent 25 years in investment and commercial banking at Wachovia focused on relationship and business development in domestic and international markets. He is on the boards of several Atlanta arts organizations and is a graduate of Williams College. Current Board chair of the International Association of Microfinance Investors (IAMFI), he also serves on the Gray Ghost Fund Investment Committee, the Council of Microfinance Equity Funds, and contributes to the growth of the industry as a speaker at conferences and symposia.
