About the Foundation

Gray Matters Capital (GMC) is a private operating foundation, funded by Bob Pattillo. GMC works closely with its sister organization The Rockdale Foundation.

Gray Matters Capital researches and co-creates initiatives with local partners to build sustainable, replicable business models for the benefit of underserved populations.

History

Founded by Bob Pattillo in the summer of 2006, Gray Matters Capital began operations in Atlanta, GA. The foundation, first identified a need in the marketplace to invest in the ecosystem of supporting services and businesses that could help deliver financial services to the world’s underserved with greater scale and expanded social impact.

 

Since that time, the team has grown and the number of partners, allies, investment companies, entrepreneurs and GMC community has continued to expand. In 2007, the foundation turned its focus towards improving the quality and access to education for poor children in developing countries.

           

The active and engaged participation of our founder and partners has propelled us to be creative and catalytic, showing others that they can create social value in this unique market of social enterprise and philanthropy.
